Hi, I have just purchased Edius NX card and now I have to configure Edius 4. I use Sony FX7 camera and I am worry because I don't know to configure Edius 4. Can you help me please?
I will need to know the more important things for the settings.

1) When I open Edius 4, on Input Settings have I to choise NHX-Generic HDV Input?
2) On Rendering format have I to choise AVI Canopus HQ?
3) on Output Device (on the left window) have I to choise NHX-E2HD50Hz and on the right have I to choise DVCPro HD/HDV 1080/25p over50i?

Thanks a lot for your info

The project settings determine...
1) Project resolution, framerate and aspect ratio
2) Format (codec) used for temporary render files (if you force EDIUS to render sections of the timeline)
3) Realtime hardware output from the timeline

Don't worry too much about the Rendering format. You do, however, have to choose one of the NHX-E2 Output Device settings in order to actually get video output from the NX hardware, otherwise it just won't be active.

hi, thanks alot for your reply but I have not undestand well. I'm sorry my bad english. Can you answer precisely to this question please?

1) When I open Edius 4, on Input Settings have I to choise NHX-Generic HDV Input?

I don't understan well about the second question too.
Can I choise AVI Canopus HQ?

is DVCPro HD/HDV 1080 over50i a good choice?

1) The input settings are for capture. You should choose the input for what you are capturing. HDV is for HDV capture over FireWire, generic OHCI is for DV and DVCPRO capture over FireWire.

Yes.

Yes, if you are editing mainly DVCPRO HD (1280x1080 resolution) 1080/50i footage.

I'm sorry but I don't understand again ;)

I like to understand if I have to choise precisely. I use fireware. I don't see any other option for me over that NHX-Generic HDV Input (even if I have Edius NX card).

>Yes, if you are editing mainly DVCPRO HD (1280x1080 resolution) 1080/50i >footage.

This is my problem. My camera Sony FX7 is a HDV therefore is 1440x1220 (may be). Could you check it please?

thanks again

You should have Generic OHCI and Generic HDV options for Input Settings.

Since your camcorder is HDV, you should use NX HDV and plug your camera into the DV port on the NX hardware.

Ok, I understand well now. ;)

Therefore my option is: DVCPro HD/HDV 1080 over50i OK?

Thanks a lot for your availability

If you are working mostly with HDV footage, choose the HDCAM/HDV 1440x1080/50i setting. Your HDV footage is 1440x1080, so EDIUS won't have to scale it in that project setting.
