Anyone figure out 24p print to tape in Vegas 6?

I have 24pA footage in a 24 timeline. When I try to print to tape with 2-3-3-2 pulldown, I can not select any options in the dialog box at the end (manual record, force record, etc.) everything is greyed out. Anyone know why this is or figured out a fix?

If I render my sequence to an .avi ntsc dv clip, then put that in a 30i timeline, I read it should work then, right? But am i losing much quality with that step?

I'd have to render it before printing to tape anyways, right?

On a side note, anyone know of any good sites that explain the different codecs and their benefits/minuses? I always am a bit confused on which compression codecs fair better against another, etc.

What are you planning to do with the tape after you print?

Unless you're planning to recapture for edit, there's no reason to use 2-3-3-2 pulldown. And if you're planning to use it for display -- for people to watch it -- then you don't want to use 2-3-3-2 pulldown at all. You want to use 2-3 pulldown or use the NTSC DV setting.

You will not lose quality or the aesthetic value of 24p.
 
Great. Thanks, David. So, when shoointg in 24pA mode, you want to remove the pulldown in 2-3-3-2 when capturing and then print it normal 2-3? Or am I off here, too?

Does Vegas remove specific pulldown automatically between 24p standard and 24pA? I hope so because I have loads of captured material and I don't think I specified a particular pulldown method...
 
Click on the tutorial link in my sig (assuming my bandwidth was reset at the turn of the month). Vegas doesn't remove pulldown at capture; it removes it on the timeline.

When you print to tape, the decision as to what pulldown should be used is the same as when shooting -- are you going to edit the footage in 24p, or are you going to 1) watch it or 2) edit it in 60i? The only time you should use 2-3-3-2 pulldown when printing to tape is if you or someone else plan to recapture it and edit in 24p.
