How to? Import 24PA Anamorphic into FCP? Urgent

I shoot with a DVX100 and anamorphic Adapter.

I import with settings DV NTSC 48 KHZ Anamorphic... But is that 24p? Because when I export it to DVD it looks like 29.97

I have the AJA Kona2 as well if that helps.

Thank you.

If you want to edit in 24P, you need to have shot in 24PA mode, and 2nd, you need to use the DV NTSC 24PA Advanced Pulldown (2:3:3:2) setting. FCP will detect the anamoprhic content automatically. If it doesn't, you go into the bin and check each clip that is anamorphic.

If you shot in regular 24P, you can use the easy setup for that, and edit in a 29.97 timeline with the 2:3 Pulldown, or you can import each clip into Cinema Tools and do a Reverse Telecine to bring each clip to 24 Frames and edit that way.

Or you can edit your DV NTSC Advanced Pulldown preset to include Anamorphic and save.

Thant's what I do.

Okay, I shoot in 24PA already. So, I no longer choose DV NTSC 48 Anamorphic, but instead choose the advanced pull down in the captures settings and click the check box that its anamorphic if there is one? I thought the new version of final cut you didn't need to use the advanced pull down anymore, good to know.

Well... you don't... but you'd still have to remove the pulldown after you've captured it. You can do that right from the TOOLs menu.

HUH? So I can caputure like I have been and then use the pull down after? Or I use the pull down first and then remove it after? Confused.... thanks Cap

Im the guy that knows what he needs to know to get the job done, surrounds himself with people that know more where he doesn't.

I don't need to know the mathematics inovled in 24P or how it woris, I'm looking for the basic prodedure to caputure 24p into FCP. CaptainMench had done that but his last post confused me a bit. Thanks NoahK

you can either:

A) capture your 24pA footage with advanced pulldown removal and then check the anamorphic box in the bin.

B) capture your footage with the anamorphic preset and then remove the advanced pulldown (after the capture) using the tools menu or in Cinema Tools.

Good reads anyway by Noah...

Helps with comments like... "use the pulldown first" -- actually, the camera ADDS the pulldown. You need to remove it.

So yes... at this point, if you've already captured the material... select it in the browser and then go to TOOLS and Remove Advanced Pulldown.

Then it should be 23.98 material.

Good luck,

Yes, I'm reading that second link now...

Okay so I can either capture it into FCP first with pulldown or capture it in 29.98 and remove the pull down later. The later is good if I don't want to recapture everything.

I think I got it now?

Yes... I believe you do!!

Except let's clarify one more point...

1) Either capture it into FCP first with the pulldown (removed on capture)
2) or capture it in 29.97 and remove the pulldown later
