Hot Fuzz

Oops, and then I let the thread sit. Anybody seen any of their other films or heard of other upcoming stuff from them? I liked "Spaced" (their TV series) a lot.

Just saw it. Loved it. Very very funny. It definitely matches up to Shaun of the Dead. Not that it has to, but it does.

HILFREAKINGARIOUS. Was a big Shawn of the Dead fan, wasn't sure this could make the cut, but it absolutly did.

It was a completely different style from Shaun, yet it still obviously was at the hands of Edgar Wright. I like that, I dig his style and I'm glad to see that he can really hone it to fit two entirely different films.

The script is tight, very tight- just as Shaun's was. I really dig their writing style and don't begrudge them for using jokes leftover from their precious film- because they managed to breathe a new life into them.

If you, or have ever had friends that love action-packed suck fests (Bad Boys II, Point Break, etc) and have watched them countless times, then you will love how they spin all of the overused cliches into something that, IMHO is a really good flick.

It's a lot of fun too! Simon Pegg playing the straight man worked a whole lot better than I thought it would.

Check it out!

I admit I harbor a secret love for Bad Boys II (and a copy) in all its magnificent idiocy, and the movie has several quotations from it...not only verbal but visual as well. They're not hard to spot if you've seen the film. I haven't seen Point Break but I don't doubt they quoted shots from there too.

The editing style was very Tony Scott though--quick, with lots of overlay.

Brandon, how is it you loved this but not Shaun of the Dead?

Fantastic film. Saw this last night and loved it. Best spent money at the movies in a while. Very funny, very entertaining. Everything was so on point for what they were trying to go for... the music, the editing, the camera work, etc. Great film.

Made me want to go home and finish working on a script I started a couple years ago that was along the same vein as this film.

I just felt Shaun DRAGGED ON AND ON when they got into the pub. I mean, everything up to that is great, but the part in the pub just killed it for me.

Just saw this film tonight as well and I have to say it is definitely one of my favorite films this year, if not in the last couple of years. The film is just so smart and well done. The feel was very Shaun of the Dead, and for me that is a very good thing. Honestly I can't say enough good things about this movie.
