Filmmaking workshops in LA? Recommendations please . . .

[DC]

I have a friend who is moving to LA soon. He says he wants to be a film director. He was asking me for some advice. I thought you guys might be able to help out.

Aside from colleges, are there any places you might recommend that have film seminars or workshops? The Workshops in Maine is exactly the kind of thing he wants. But it's in Maine - anything similar in LA?

How about the NY Film Academy?

He was looking at their 4-week, and 12-week night classes. Ever hear anything good or bad about it?

Thanks . . .

He can give me a couple grand and I'll do a weekend seminar with him.

I'll even provide room and board (my couch and grilled cheese.)

I think the grilled cheese will sell it.
