Century Fisheye and extreme Fish Compared

Gracias,

The xtreme seems to have some color abberations at the edges, looks good though.

I just talked to century and my xtreme is on backorder for at least another month.
Sucks!

Thanks again for posting the clips, makes me more impatient to start using mine.

P.S. Looks like its time for some new masonite on the old ramp.:)

Yeah, the adapters definitely exaggerate the purple fringing on high contrast edges. soft on the edges too. but i think they have a very cool look. The Extreme makes the camera VERY front heavy. I rolled around on the board with it and i think it will work fine for follow cam stuff, it's a lot of glass hanging out in front though! feels like it's just waiting to get dinged. Insurance is a good thing.

As for the ramp, yeah the masonite is getting long in the tooth, i'm gonna try and pull one more season out of it though, :)

do you think its worth settling for the superfisheye? I cant justify the cost of the extreme adapter. It wouldn't be a good investment for me.

Century needs to make an Extreme fisheye with no vig and less CA.
The Super fisheye looks way more "professional" than it's bigger, wider, and pricier brother.

What do you think would be better overall? The Century Superfisheye ($595 and .55x) or the Century Wideangle Adapter ($475 and .6x)?

By far easier said than done. Designing an extreme lens like that is difficult enough without the additional challenges of cooperating with a built in lens and a small sensor size. This is probably as good as it's going to get. And hey, you can always fix the chromatic aberration in post if you know what you're doing. ;)

Ya very true. But you'd think for $3500 a piece they could make it slightly, very slightly less wide and remove the vignetting. Vignetting on HD just seems like a bad idea, it's not like on SD tv's where there is a crop factor. But ya, i'm sure it's very hard to do.

Insurance is a must have for sure, I talked to a salesperson at Century and they said the price on replacement glass would most likely be between 1200$ to 1500$.

what about the new fisheye from 16x9.inc

what about the new fisheye from 16x9.inc

Since this is a fisheye thread I will post this here.
Has anyone seen some full resolution images of the fisheye lens of http://www.16x9inc.com/products/16x9/169-hdvsf5x-82-son-z1u.html

I am from Belgium, europe, and for that I don't have the posibility to go test it in some shop.

If anyone can say anything usefull about these lenses, I will be greatfull.

also, couldn't you solve the lack of wideness of the centurysuperfisheye by adding an extra ring ( like a UV filter with the glass removed ) in between the fish and the stocklens. Or is that impossible with bayonet mounts ? I used to to it with my babydeath lens on my 37mm thread camera.

thanks

Senne
