Oops sorry, didnt notice that you were just currently living in Munich.

Well I got myself a Varizoom LCD which has the same specs (regarding resolution) and if you really want to pull the focus with your HVX (I assume that is why you are posting the question in this section...), then you won't succeed all the way.

I just ordered a Marshall HD screen...

you can work with the one you are considering to get but it's not the non.plus.ultra (eventhough the price is very attractive!)

It's just great! :)

Schnitt & Kamera.

Jetzt habe ich nichts, I habe meine DVX100b und PDX10p Verkauft. Und ich warte auf eine HVX. :D Lustig, aber es gehts gut. Meine Frau hat mich immer schimfen. Warum hast du so viele Kamera...Frauen.....

wow i really wish this post was in english. Im thinking of getting one of these monitors just as a cheap option until i can afford a marshall.

Well it doesn't look like we've missed much. Here's what Google's translation page turns out:

MarcMalkowski: If a completely good Deal is, but if you want to focus with your HVX (take on therefore ists in this section) thereby, I see black. I do not have a monitor, that for the HVX with the M2 talking skirt adapter technically (from the dissolution) this equal and it am large pleasure. Property me one Mars-resound hp monitor ordered. But you will already be able in principle to work thereby. is not stop non plus ultra! (The price is however super, I the Varizoom for over 400Dollar bought.)

DavidChia: Thank you for your Anwort, I knows, which it well like one do not Mars-resound to hp monitor is. But praise is very attractive. Where do you live? In Germany or?

MarcMalkowski: No problem, Mars-resound is stop simply to super! But with the dissolution one comes for the time being clearly. To you notice evenly so long you NEED Mars-resound and up to then can you with the other something money earn I love straight in Cork, Irish country, but actually I am from Germany. I am in June also again in Munich! From where do you come ürsprünglich? ?

DavidChia: Cool one, but in June I would fly to N.Y. I hope that we can meet one day up. Drink

MarcMalkowski: In June? When exactly, I fly probably on 19 June also to New York! But clearly, in Munich there is the BEST beer of Germany. Indeed “Augustiner bright”… It's just great!

DavidChia: Beautifully, I would be there from 6 to 23. Many light can meet we if you time have and if my wife with their friend shopping to go.

MarcMalkowski: Clearly, gladly, why not! Are you actually from New York? Perhaps I draw this year there.

DavidChia: No, I was born in Singapore, but lived I in the Perth Australia. Now, for dear I live in Germany. I am a living man, sometimes work on I independent now. Cut & camera.

MarcMalkowski: Ah alright, I understand! You have which camera?!

DavidChia: Now I do not have anything, I my DVX100b and PDX10p sold. And I wait for a HVX. Merrily, but it gehts well. My wife has me always schimfen. Why you have so many camera… women….

The LCD4Video monitors (at least the ones I've seen) are junk. You'll regret buying it. I did! Even a simple $99 portable DVD player with a video input will look better... and when all the cheap plastic parts start breaking (as they will in about a minute), you'll be sad.

LCD4Video TFT 7" LCD Monitor - It's okay...

LCD4Video TFT 7" LCD Monitor - It's okay...

Hi David,

We just bought this exact same monitor at our small production company. We do a lot of handheld shooting out in the field, so we wanted something lightweight, portable, and cheap. We literally received the monitor yesterday, so not too much real-world experience with the thing (just some in-house testing), but I can tell you a few things that we've found out thus far:

Picture: If you're looking for lightweight, portable, and cheap, you're going to get lightweight, portable, and cheap. Don't expect greatness. You're not going to see accurate broadcast color or anything fancy like that. It's made of plastic, and basically has the same image quality of your camera's LCD viewfinder (maybe less), but with twice the image size. Keep in mind, we're still rockin' the DVX100A, so we were excited by the switchable 16:9 / 4:3 aspect ratio function on this monitor.

Connectivity: We were not so thrilled with the strange multi-cable adapter that you have to use, though. There's a built-in cable coming out of the bottom-left-hand side of the monitor with an S-Video connector at the end. Then you connect the multi-cable to this S-Video connector. At the other end of the multi-cable are the following connectors: BNC, RCA video, RCA audio, and 12 volt power connector. While this cable keeps things nice and tidy on the monitor's end (power and video/audio signal all traveling through one cable), it seems kind of wild and unruly at the other end. Maybe it just takes some getting used to.

Camera Mount vs. Table Stand: This is the monitor's weakest point. We ordered the same all-inclusive package from LCD4Video's eBay Store that you are considering, which comes with a table stand and a camera shoe mount. The table stand is decent enough, although it's just lightweight plastic and the monitor makes it top-heavy, so it could topple over pretty easily if bumped. Also, the table stand was not fully assembled when we received it, and LCD4Video's online-only instruction manual (without any pictures or diagrams) was hardly the authoritative source we were looking for.

The most disappointing aspect so far has to be the camera shoe mount, which is a complete joke. The tiny metal plate that slips into the shoe mount is cut too small, so it wiggles around on the camera no matter how tightly you screw it on. The tightening nuts (for lack of a better term) that are supposed to secure the shoe mount to both the camera and the back of the monitor are covered with a slick plastic coating, which means that they slip loose with the slightest camera movement. The monitor connects to the mount via a short metal arm with a ball-joint at one end, which you tighten via a wingnut on the side of this contraption (the idea being that you can adjust the position and viewing angle of the monitor to suit your needs). Again, no matter how tightly we screwed-in the wingnut, the ball-joint could not support the weight of the monitor, and therefore kept slipping and falling out of position. Frankly, we just do not feel safe attaching the monitor to the camera with the provided shoe mount. If we do use it, it's going to take a lot of gaffer's tape to make us feel "safe." Maybe there's a similar, more reliable shoe mount on the market.

So, in summary, it's a cheap monitor with a crummy shoe mount, but if all you need is a low-cost LCD field monitor for framing up shots and getting a general idea of color and contrast (which is exactly what we needed), I guess the price is right.

Hope you find this information helpful.

Cheers MicCheckOne,

Thank you so much for the answer, I think I'll have to save abit more and go for the Marshall. I need it for critical focus with the Brevis....

David
