Kinomatik showed a new Movietube adapter at the NAB. The Movietube JR. I don't know anything about pricing but here is a first look. (PDF File)

Directly screwed onto the HVX this baby could make some waves.

Seems it defaults as a Canon EOS mount, and there are no FD converters, which is a shame. Also no mention of PL or OCT19.

Looks a tasty little beast though, much more manageable than it's bigger brother.

All the infos I have so far is from their PDF File in my first post. I send them an e-mail and hope to hear from them soon. But they're probably still on their travel back from NAB.

That thing looks sweet. Low maintenance and no moving parts, but I'd be weary to see its price tag. Even if it's half of what original is in price.... still pretty steep.

Thanks for the info!

The PDF sais it will loose only 0.5 f-stops! Pretty cool.

4'500$ I'm buying right now. Well ... monday.

Hmmm $4500, cool. This create's a mid-level (in price) adapter between the redrock-esque adapters and the P&S. Interesting. can't wait to see images.

If anyone hears a release date......

It would be far more interesting at about $500-$600. I mean, the whole kookie complexity of a spinning or vibrating ground glass, the twiddly set-up, and the light loss make me apprehensive about DOF adapters, but $4,500 is too steep to solve these issues.

Heh, m2 is enough for me as far as purchase goes, definetely worth a rent if the chance pops up. Looks a bit like the letus flip.

wow. thats ugly.
you guys would pay 4500 for this?

ditto...was very interested also until I saw that price...$4500!!!

At $1000 it would be a great option..but at $4500...thats virtually like buying a second HVX...

I'll be very interested to see the results from this adapter. It uses the static FILMscreen HS, something they make a big deal about and some impressive, if ambiguous, claims - according to their PDF:

- High light transmission
- Superb detail resolution
- Most realistic Bokeh
- Use ultrawide angle lenses with no dark corners
- Progressive judder is reduced drastically
- Eliminates video moire effects

No battery needed, no turning on and off and if it produces a great image that lives up to the above claims, then it might be well worth it - perhaps the rental market will be more suitable for this unit.

It's a static adapter -- is a tiny piece of screen material (no matter how advanced) plus the elimination of mechanical complexity worth a $2,000-$3,000 premium?

Just got the e-mail

The MovieTube JR will be available this fall (maybe IBC) and the SRP will be 3490 Euro.

I'm thinking about becoming a reseller here in Switzerland.
