Min-xlr to regular xlr adaptor

Is there such an adaptor as mini-xlr to regular xlr or will I need to get custom cables made?

Red One is using mini XLR in order to fit 4 channels of audio on form factor. All my audio gear is standard XLR.

sorry didnt get what you mend
by the way from what i see on red site the connectors are full size xlrs

Here's a quote from Jarred when questions were brought up that the actual camera was using mini-xlrs..

"You guys are right.. size was the problem. We coulda just put 2 channels of input in but we wanted to give you 4, and to put 4 on the boards we needed to go mini." - Jarred Land

wery stupid as at least they was using 2 regular xlrs and another multipin as lemo , fisher hirosa or anything that counts to go 4 ins ,
the mini xlr , do not have right angle version , very breakable and cant take thick cables .
stupid , stupid , stupid .

hey i haven't been around in a while but what camera was jared talking about?

with mini-xlr wouldn't there be a chance of cross talk because the wires/signals are so close together?

i would in general prefer a connector with a proven track record.

I use mini-XLR and have to agree with Oleg; they are NO WHERE NEAR as robust as the normal XLR, and this really is a tad odd, especially as the cam's body seems to be so sturdy (metal and all).
It seems to be a mismatch, somewhat, that's definitely the case.
Although I do understand their reasoning.

The idea of going full size with two channels and the other two using just the one connector would make a LOT of sense, especially as maybe (I'm guessing of course) 90%+ of all recording would be only 1 or 2 channel anyway.

That was all in reference to the Red One.

Anyway, to answer the original question - mini-XLR is very popular on boundary mics, they all come with minXLR-XLR adapters, and any company that makes these sells replacement parts. Most come with a cable; some cheapo NADYs I picked up as sacrificial mics come with a very handy barrel adapter...

I'd rather have full-size XLRs, but in years of working with mini-XLRs on stage floors - where the mics are regularly kicked and the connectors stepped on - they have never yet been the source of a problem. Certainly, if the choice is mini-XLR vs. RCA or 1/8 inch, I'd go mini-XLR! Would you guys prefer a cusom connecter with a breakout snake? I don't think I would...

i have 2 dozens of taf broke down on lectrosonics transmitted during the 15 years i use them
so this really not the best connector i ever sow .
the other problem is the connection is in horizontal position to the camera so make it very easy brake it accidentally .
lemo is not custom , its expencive, but way better .
