Sequence clip vs Video clip

I recently shot an event that ran over 4 days. I have 54 cards to import. When I import from P2 Select some come in as video clips and some sequence clips. I have to manually look at start and end time to make sure I don't duplicate footage. For example: I have a video clip that begins timecode 07:12:10.29 and ends 07:22:41:07. The Sequence clip begins 07:12:10:29 and ends 07:42:19:26

Am I importing incorrectly or is there another way to import?

Sequence clips are the result of continuous recordings that are longer than the 4GB limit imposed by the FAT32 file system of the P2 cards, or which span cards.

The sequence clips are virtual clips and consume very little space, but they do show up in the bin and can be confusing when you first encounter them. What you should do is to go to Settings -> Application Settings -> Customize -> Display bin details and make sure the Clip Type and File Name properties are included in the display; the Clip Type will be Sequence Clip and the File Name empty if it's a spanned clip.

Thanks THoff. The Clip Type and File name are now checked. The Sequence Clip still shows a Clip Name which is the same very long group of numbers as the other clips. Is it your recommendation that I not use the Sequence Clip? The Sequence Clip does seem to have timecode material that the other clips do not have. Also the Sequence Clip does not have wave.

thanks for your help

You can also rearrange the order of the fields in the bin, so Clip Name can be moved near the end of the details display (the view use).

You should be using the sequence clips, that's Edius' way of typing multiple video clips together in the correct order. They also still carry audio data -- what version of Edius do you use?

To ensure you get both audio and video, make sure you're droppin the clips onto a VA track.
