Any Composers in New Jersey?

Our team, Off Stage Films, is competing in the NYC Film Race next Saturday, April 7.

We have our crew and actors in place, but we are looking for a composer to join our team. Because this is a 12 hour contest, we have no time to send files to and from a remote composer, so we need to find someone local.

Does anyone know and NJ based composers or a good place to search for some?

Thanks,

Chris

hmm - No one I can think of right now.

Is it incorporated in the rules that the music must have been composed during these 12 hours? How about licensing/using some existing tracks? Or asking the composer to create some score in advance and edit to the music?

Herman,

Unfortunately, the rules explicitly require the music to be created during the contest period.

If it were a 48 hour contest there might be time to send the film off to a composer and get a score back, but with the 12 hour contest, the composer will need to be on site with us and composing along side us while while we film and edit.

It's actually a lot of fun, but the composer we have worked with before is unavailable.

Why not consider going to Guitar Center and buying one of those really cool keyboards that simulate different instruments and compose something from there?

they've got some really good ones for like 800..Im not sure though if you'd be willing to spend that much though. But they're really fun to mess around with.

That's an interesting suggestion, but more important than the funds are my lack of musical talent. :)

If I can't find anyone, I'll probably just end up using Soundtrack Pro for the Apple.

Or you could set up a live video chat. That would be cool behind the scenes stuff.
