Sorry to do this to the forum and post another 35 mm question but I'm just curious to see what the distribution is amongst HVX users. So the question is:

What adapter are you using or planning to use? and Why?

Personally I like the look of the Brevis.
(if I missed any adapter please let me know)

Brevis. Quick Setup. Don't have to use rails with primes. Minimal light loss.

Looks like the brevis is slightly more popular (though small number of voters). I wonder when we will see the first short or feature length films shot with the brevis.

We're actually about to implement the Brevis into our feature next week. Our production hiatus ends on the 9th, and a large part of the reason we took a break was to get comfortable with using the Brevis. Not sure if we're there yet, but we should be next Monday. Hopefully...

I'm currently using both the M2 and soon the brevis on my feature doc. It's getting to the point where I shoot all interviews and some B-roll with an adapter. Even with the M2 2.5 stops of light loss, we're lighting all our interviews with kinos. It takes longer to set the shot, but damn i love the control.

Currently I am in production using the Brevis on a feature. So far it has looked great. I hope to get some frame grabs up soon.

I am currently working on 3 shorts using the Brevis and there are plenty of screenshots and clips from people using this adapter all over this board and others.

Yeah, I have watched a few of your stuff in the screen grabs section. Quite nice.

I figured since 'Illegal', which was shot beautifully with the M2, was so well recieved here that it would have the larger user base. But it looks like many people are looking at the Brevis. Is it because of the light loss?

after watching dozens and dozens of clips shot on all the major 35mm adapters, i chose the Brevis35 to shoot my feature, Heart of Now, on. still, i had the same perception as mjjason, that the M2 was far and away the most popular.

top reasons were that it didn't require rails and light loss was minimal with CF1 but also had the option for CF3 for more aggressive DOF.

For me, it was the Brevis ability to use without rails (prime lenses), hardmounted easy setup (m2 has the hard mount covered now), and diffuser options (cf1,cf2,cf3 - soon: cf1e, cf2e, cf3e).

.....and ofcourse the minimal light loss with cf1. Run and Gun was fun even with todays dark, overcast skies.

Nice to see Timur reppin SGpro hard. Things seemed kinda quite on Wayne's site for a bit, but I'm hearing alot of SGpro buzz lately... time to pop in and see what's cookin' on the forums.

I am currently using the M2, with Follow Focus. It has a noticable amount of light that is lost. I basically had no basis for comparison, just looking at screen grabs and doing a lot of reading.

Doesn't redrock have at least triple (guestimate) the amount of cinevate units purchased? I think i read they hit 1k last year. I'm sure in terms of popularity, thats gotta put them on top just on numbers... ofcourse they've been out alot longer. Dennis just went fulltime around a month ago.

I almost went the m2 route. I'm sure I would have loved it. Their forums are littered with nice footage. Their users' sets are probably littered with kino flos :) My lights are modest at best... lucky for me: brevis.

yea the go35 is great too.

i think the sg pro has been smaller in its release numbers. theres probably less than a hundred in existance. im not surprised its numbers are few.

diffrent strokes...... :)

fwiw arams new lake of fire gabs look increadible. mee likey.

Hi,

Planning to buy a Brevis. I shoot much documentary. How is your experience mixing shots with and without Brevis adapter with HVX. I don't want to shoot my whole next doc with adapter but only some parts.

Thanks

I wouldn't make any assumptions about how popular any adapter is from this list - there are a lot of redrock's oyut there as well as P+S's
I've been using a Redrock. Have a Brevis on order hopefully will get it soon. Would love to see an SGPro.

i have a DIY adapter. i'll be upgrading to a brevis when i have the money. which won't be for a while : (
