Children of Men

This looks good, purposely haven't read any more of the thread in case there are some spoilers.
Hope to get to see it soon.

Just watched it. Loved the set design and the hand held footage. The film has some great cinematography and it feels so real. Similar to 28 days later. I hated the end. It's definitly worth watching, but the end seems like it was left open intentionally for a sequal.
God I hope they don't attempt a sequel. Damn good movie though, I left the movie feeling some kind of way thats for sure.

Actually, they had gone through several versions of the ending and chose that one so it would be somewhat upbeat without going overboard, like showing children on the ship. It didn't have anything to do with leaving things open for a sequel. If they had wanted that, they wouldn't have...

SPOILER ALERT

...killed off the Clive Owen character.

I finally watched this last night. I remember when I first heard this concept I was pissed cause I had a similar idea for years but was too lazy to write it. Anyway, that anger dissapated quickly while watching this. I really enjoyed this film, it was great. This is one of those films that really makes you analize society and it's ethical/moral habits and behaviors. That's not common. I had this real sick feeling in my stomach the entire time just thinking about this actually happening. The 'what if?' plot here was strong and effective. I mean, what would you do? I wonder if I would take that blue-box drug? Interesting.

I saw this in theatres months ago and fell head over heels in love with it. I would consider it the best cinematic experience of my love.

I bought it last night on DVD. What the hell happened?

It was like I was watching a completely different movie!

Don't get me wrong, it was brilliant, but somehow, watching it on my small tv screen with no sorround sound, it just didn't live up to the movie I saw in theatres.

This is the only time I've really experienced anything like this.

Hmm.

A small part of it may have been. like the stuff that was on the TV news or something maybe.

Try watching 2001 on a small screen. It was meant to be seen in a theatre with a great surround system. There's a reason why we plunk down eleven bucks for some movies...

I've not seen it, but I really want to. Emmanuel Lubezki is one of my favorite cinematographers and I hear this one is pretty amazing in that category.

...which is why movie theaters will never go away...

i see. but i think i liked that. if the characters' motivations were clear, or plainly evident, or without contradiction, they wouldn't ring true for me.

In my experience, most people's motivations are easily understood, and any apparent contradiction is most often just on the surface.

But in any case, if you're trying to tell what could have been an exceptionally complex story in an oddly short 100 minutes, you need to be a little more forthright with some of this stuff.
