I need a writer for a short story

I have a story that I've been wanting to film for a while now; been thinking about it a lot but didn't start writing until last month. Unfortunately, I'm force to concede that I can't write natural dialogue or interesting encounters. The story idea is there and I already know 90% of what's supposed to happen but I just can't commit the thing to words and make it flow. And it's very frustrating.

So I'm asking if anyone here would like to take a stab at this screenplay. I'll tell you the basic story elements and the things I would like to be included (some preferences are more detailed than others) and you can mold the story anyway you liked within that framework. The film should run around 20-30 minutes but it'll be as long as it needs to be. I'm looking to shoot this sometimes in the fall (September or October). It's going to be low budget (under $500) but we can work out the financial compensation. If anyone is interested please PM me.

PS: It would be great if you're in the Berkeley/SF area because then it's easier for us to communicate.

Thanks!

I work in Pleasanton (about 30 min. from San Jose) since you mention proximity.

I have done several projects where I wrote shorts from other people's ideas, this seems to be my strongest skill in terms of writing.

I'd be interested to discuss the project with you and see if it's a fit or not. If you want I can provide you with some shorts I've written based on other's ideas.

Peace,
Larry

I'll throw my hat in the ring. I can shoot you a few of my shorts to see if we're a fit. And depending on the length I might be able to work pro bono, I have some free time right now.

Good luck with the search.

I've read some of alveraz's work..I can vouch for the quality of his work. You'd get a great script if he's able to help out.

Thanks so much everybody! The story is a romantic drama. Larry and alveraz, I'll be sending you guys some more details later tonight. You too Capt!

Thanks for the kind words Tommy...it's really a shame none of those scripts made it into the final contest. Everyone dropped out for one reason or another (I just hope it wasn't because of the script  )

Honestly, I had a blast writing the different entries...shorts are a lot of fun to write, IMHO, as long as you have a solid story with payoff to write to. Unlike a feature, you don't have the padding of all those pages to bring the story back on track if it drifts. Rather, every beat, each charater, ever word of dialog has to count for something...definitely a great challenge for anyone who aspires to any level of writing.
