My new music scoring reel

I'm listening right now... my first impression was "WOW!"... I was really digging it... now, since you asked... I hope you don't mind some input. This is MY opinion only... but in some production music I find the inclusion of some elements unwelcome... they are generally "sci-fi" or late 80's early 90's wah-wah synths or guitar. Basically when the breaking chords come in (I'm sorry I don't know the actual term... I'm referring to the moments when the music changes pace or composition for the next "verse")... well when that happens I think some production composers make the mistake of drawing too much attention to some PARTICULAR element... as I'm trying my best to describe above.

There's a guy I met online from Colorado... I don't want to say his name, but he's got a song in a PS2 game called Breed. He produces this kind of music and most of his stuff is really really impressive... but every now and then he has one of those sounds peppered through a song... and I keep asking myself "why?"...

Overall I'm very impressed with your talent... so I hope it's okay with you for me to offer some FRIENDLY "criticism"... if you can call it that.

Aside from that little comment I'd say your stuff is pretty incredible. You got skills. I'd buy this stuff... no I mean really. It's good.

Okay I keep listening and it's only got better from the start on... I almost feel like editing my opening paragraph.

I'm guessing you don't want to disclose any $$$ info here? So let's say I have a construction video for a local Green Builder (watch NBC Nightly News tonight mon. or maybe tomorrow tue... you'll see him)... this has been sort of a low-budget production, but I won't lie and say it hasn't made me some money... 6 minutes of video... construction footage broken up with narration and testimonials... how would you price something like that?

I also have a finished 18 minute video from Haiti that I can send you... it's a finished documentary type of piece... maybe, if you feel like blowing 18 minutes... you can watch it and tell me what it would have cost me for your company to have done the soundtrack. That was a charity project that actually COST me money to do... but we did pay somebody to do a musical soundtrack and VO work. I'll probably have more stuff like this in the future.

Your reel worked... I'm moved... and impressed.

Thanks for the review. Ironically, the very last track was produced for a video shot in Haiti, and was a pro-bono thing. I sent you my contact info. Thanks again.

it definately gets better as it progresses.

did you write an opera?...

the middle sounds so epic. beautiful. not much in the way of criticism i just thoroughly enjoyed it.

like matt, i liked the more traditional sounds in the middle though moreso than the guitar/synth stuff at the beginning...
