Mini DV Master Tape Versus Cheaper Tape? Guidance Please

This is really troublesome for me.
Can someone provide some guidance? Is there a real benefit of buying the more expensive mini-dv tape? How much of difference we are talking about?

I mean at $700 Plus a POP how much improvement should I expect ?
Is there a good article about this?

I'm using dvx100 - I have always used the AY-DVM63MQ Master tapes
But with them discountinued and price upped 2.50 .. This slowly adds up

Thanks

Anyway,

The only time this will make a difference is if you work your tape allot. (back and forth, back and forth, play, pause, play pause... you get the idea?)

The expensive tapes have a more robust formulation to handle high use stress. If all you are doing is recording your images and going right into an edit suite where you might be running one or two passes over your pictures, I wouldn't worry about using the tapes you are already used to.

There is no difference in the picture quality. They are exactly the same.

Yes it was a Typo $7.00 - $7.25 for new master tapes. I go striaght to edit and don't go back and forth a lot. But I hear that the cheaper tapes may drop frame etc .. So I'm worried about that

They will drop frames if you work them like I described above. But from what you are describing I wouldn't worry about it at all.
