My doc in the AFI Dallas Film Festival

Anyone interested in coming, let me know. I will be giving a lecture and Q&A on both nights. I actually didnt even submit the film to them but they saw it at an event I did with Pennebake and Hegedus back in November and asked me to be a part of the festival. It is their first year to do Dallas and they have been terrific, it should be a great event.

Times for my film are:

3/30 7:30pm at the Angelika (GREAT new art-house theater)
3/31 9:00pm at the Angelika

Ash,

Congratulations! I had fully intended to make the AFI after returning from Morocco, but now I'm not too sure. Between jet lag and busy schedule, it might not work out for me. If I do make it, I'll look you up. I've still only seen the last 15-20 minutes of you film.

That looks fantastic. I always like to see something compelling come from a topic most people would laugh at the first impression.

Congrats on all accounts. Especially the long journey of completion.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Just so it is very clear, this was literally a one man doc. No lights, stock mic, no sound guy, no crew, just me and a camera following the band around, all handheld. My new doc has much more production but it was great to cut my teeth this way. The crowning achievement for me was getting invited to speak with DA Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus about my movie and the genre.

As far as AFI, I HIGHLY recommend it. They are actually paying airfare, hotel, etc. and every film maker is treated like they are A-list.
