There are a lot of video cameras right now that can be purchased under $2,000 if they are purchased used. Which one in your opinion is the best value in the "under $2,000 used" price range?

Here are some choices:

JVC GR-HD1U
Sony VX2000
Sony VX2100
Canon GL1
Canon GL2
Canon XL1
Panasonic DVX100
((Other: Please explain))

From that list? Hands down, the DVX. Not even close.

So what video cams under $2,000 used are competitive to the DVX100? Anything in that price range better than the DVX100 in your opion?

Depends on what you mean by "better." No standard-definition camera in that price range has 24p. The Canon HV20, as I said, has 24p in HD at the $1000 price point, but it's a consumer camera which will not have nearly the features of the DVX. Reviews of it are still pending, though, and by all accounts, it looks to be a nice little cam.

The problem with the HV20 is that the most basic pro-level controls (focus, iris, white balance, ND, shutter, etc) will be buried in a hierarchial menu system that is just too clumsy to use. I've been in video for 12 years, and I looked like an idiot trying to show my friend how to use his Sony HD Handycam...not saying much, I know...

Get a DVX and live happy.
