Framing with portable dvd for 16:9 info

Ok so I would like to shoot this next short of mine in 16:9. I am about to buy the anamorphic adaptor for my dvx-100. From what I assume, the lcd screen on the camcorder and eyepeice will not give me the correct framing if I am shooting in 16:9, is this correct? The cheapest solution to this in my eyes is running the av out to a portable dvd player that is 16:9. The resolution on the dvd player is horrible, but I intend on using it just to make sure the framing is correct. I will be using the on camera viewing options for all of my tweaking of settings. Please let me know if you have any insight on this topic or alternative ideas that would be better.
thankyou

Im doing the same. There's no other alternative unless you want to spend a grand on a 16:9 monitor.

That's a cool set up Shamrock, you'd u get that dvd player hooked up on there... details please.

That almost look like a PSP u got on there

The framing will be correct, but the picture on the camera's EVF+screen will be squashed or letterboxed (can't remember which)
When it's played back on a 16:9 screen, it will look fine.

I've just bought one of those little portable DVD players as a field monitor. It's actually quite good.
