Does anyone happen to know if there is anything like Bella's "Catapult"? It allows you to record DV to any USB device. Basically looks like a cheap Firestore; however, it's taking forever for this thing to come out..does anyone know if any other companies have come up with a similar product for a reasonable price? (considerably cheaper than Firestore)

That looks interesting. It'll be nice to see competion come along for the firestore and hopefully bring prices down. As inexpensive as memory has become, firestore is way overpriced now.

The only reasonably priced alternative that I know of is to just record straight to disk on your laptop (assuming you already have one.) I don't know about the other NLE's but Vegas does this flawlessly...no need for DV rack at all. Just set it to capture and shoot away.
