It starts tonight, in Cambridge, Mass. Click here for info.

Aram and I will be driving up there on Friday. His film Red Meat is being screened as part of the Schadenfreude program of short films (Brattle Theater, 5:30 p.m., Friday 3-23-07).

If any DVXers are there, look for us and say hi!!!

Hooray! Hope to see both of you there!

We are still up printing out promo postcards... aaaarrrrrgggghhhh!

OK, clearly I am a bit punchy at this point.

Got a chance to go to Aram's screening last night at the Boston Underground Film Festival and his film was well received and rightfully so. He has a great eye for the camera IMO. It was part of a short's package that as a whole was really interesting and well executed. It was great meeting both he and Leslie, great time.

Congrats Aram

Thanks!!! It was a REALLY GREAT experience plus I got to meet Bosindy and talked about some colab stuff, hung out at the parties and got nice. He's a really cool homie and I can't wait to go back out to Cambridge to visit again but to play with toys instead of smoozin'

We met Larry Kent and LOVED his movie Hampster Cage. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0448791/
After the movie we spoke most of the night at the party till it closed and got all his info to keep in touch.
Hampster Cage is something that EVERYONE must see. It's having trouble getting distribution because of the [SIZE=-1]controversial topics but once it gets out I'm sure it will become one of those movies "you have to see".
Unlike the exerience Jay had, our passes gave us access to everything. Friday nights party was in a bar with a VIP section for the fest but last nights party was held at a hotel banquet room and was impressive but we couldn't last for tonight big ending party. We old people can't hang anymore, I was tempted to bust out some old school break dancing but my stomach was busting out on its own. A belly spin probably would have ended the party :P

Yeah, BUFF wasa really awesome experience. We really enjoyed meeting fellow DVXer BosIndy, and all the other filmmakers at the fest. High points were, as Aram mentioned, Larry Kent's film The Hamster Cage, and talking with him afterward. He is a very interesting filmmaker and was very generous with his time and advice. The film is an evocative comedy/drama about every possible family taboo you could think of. If you are involved in any kind of festival programming or indie theater programming, please consider this movie -- due to its subject matter, he is having trouble getting distribution, but it really is a must-see! PM me if you want to know more.

Another favorite was When Is Tomorrow, written by Kevin Ford and Eddie Steeples, directed by Ford, produced by Angela Bettis, and starring all three of them. Eddie Steeples is the guy on My Name Is Earl who was also in the Rubberband Man commercials for Office Max. Their entry was a character-driven film with some awesome dialogue and great performances. It seemed completely improvised but was scripted and rehearsed. Highly recommended if you get a chance to see it.

We also saw a number of really fun, inventive shorts, and the Q&As after each film were definitely enlightening -- to hear what's going on through other indie filmmakers' heads and learn about different work processes, collaboration styles, etc.

We recommend this fest to anyone looking for a screening of their offbeat, different, uncategorizable, quirky, indie film -- definitely worth submitting to!

Oh yeah, I forgot about the When is Tomorrow film. That was really good and Eddie Steeples was cool to talk to, too bad he moved to LA from NYC. Would love to work with him.
