I just got a Macbook. I know to get on the net via wireless at home, I need airport. OK. But let's say I want to be one of those at Starbucks, lol, attached to the net browsing DVXuser. How do I connect there? Thanks, pass the latte, lol...

Not sure about Starbucks, but I know places like Panera Bread will show up in your Wireless Networks. Sometimes they'll make you sign in (once you open a browser window), sometimes you'll just see a Panera Bread logo on the browser when you open it up, and then after that, it's just like surfing from anywhere else. Of course, I'm using Panera as an example...but lots of places do it the same way.

Now that's cool (Panera's way) Hope Starbucks is the same, maybe Barnes & Noble also...

Then there's the question, how to connect, sorry I'm new to the 'wireless' way of surfing. Any suggestions, what settings etc..? Thanks.

The mac will always prompt you when there is a new wireless network to connect to. Some need passwords, some don't.
In the upper right thought there is a sort of triangle of lines by the clock, click on that and it will give you the info you need....at least that's how it is on my powerbook...

I think he's asking for something else: whether he can connect to a network that doesn't have an airport set up.

if I'm correct the answer is simple: you can connect to any wireless hub regardless of who made it as long as it's open. All wireless hubs that is except wireless-N hubs which are difficult because of conflicting standards.
