is this the right clamp?

So it's two bare fluo tubes you want to mount on one stand? Do you have a picture/link to the actualy kind of fluo lights you're using?

What your suggesting sounds plausible...

Without doing a search for the cheapest option, I can tell you that this clamp, with the pin , is a SOLID investment. This WILL do what you have asked as your question. This will provide a helping hand in several future assignments as well.. Buy several when you can, and check out ebay as well. I looked yesterday, and someone was selling , like 6 or more at a time. But, I think you need to order pins for them..Good luck.

I concur.. I own 4 and they get plenty of use. Though I tend to use Cardellini/Matthelini's probably double as much. They're also extremely useful and really good investment.

Both clamps are handy to have and work well with their respective needs.

Oh ya the mafer/super-clamp will work no problem. I often do this if I have to mount a light lower and don't have a baseplate...i'll just mount it to the leg of the stand. Not sure about your cheaper alternative...the link didn't load. But again you can't go wrong with a mafer and pin. It'll pay for itself in the long run.

I Had a problem with the Maffer clamp. The pin came out and the light dropped to the ground (operator error?) This is not a common occurence, but I have been prodigious since then. The Pin being removable allows for more versatility, but i will never buy one. That being said, the cardellini has taken about 90% (if not more) of the maffers jobs since it was released.

The Cardelini is a far superior clamp, not only in construction, but shear strength and durability. The bogen super clamp (mafor) is less than half the price(give or take) and will hold it's own for some time. Still worth the investment despite the occasional operator error. --lol The other cool thing about mafor clamps, is that there are about 15 different devices and pins and gobo heads that can "Snap" into it, making it quite versatile for tight spaces.....It's the "snap in" feature that I appreciate about it.

Like I've always said...I'd take a Cardellini any day...but if when I need a mafer I REALLY need a maffer.
