Exporting DVCPROHD from FCP to Windows

Hey,

I have been working at this all day, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on here that would be quick and effecient.

I have a project that was shot with the HVX200, 720p 24, edited on Final Cut Pro. Now I have an animator who is going to be handling the special effects shots. Unfortunately, he works on PC. I need to get him a video file that he can work with in Avid and After Effects to use as both a reference for when he is animating the cg elements, and to use too rotoscope and create an alpha. The project will then be coming back to me for compositing and final render on the Mac.

My game plan has been to have him give me uncompressed avi footage at 720x1280 for both the alpha mask and the cg elements. However, I am going to need to give him something to work with the create the masks. The DVCPROHD Quicktime files obviously don't work. And I would prefer to not be giving him uncompressed footage, as it eats up alot of space and is difficult to work with. Does anyone here have any suggestions for what my best bet would be for getting him files that he can work with?

Thanks.

Thanks Barry,

I had actually looked into Raylight earlier. It certainly would do what I'm looking for, but for right now I'm not looking to invest any further money. I might just give him uncompressed mov or avi files, and have him recompress them in avid so that he can work with them, unless anyone has a better idea. Thanks

I blogged on this at one point last year....dunno the link off the top of my head, on hdforindies.com in the archives....

Just to update you guys on what I wound up doing. I used the AVID Quicktime Codecs, and used DNxHD to convert the file, which compressed it surprisingly well, without losing too much. I pulled this over to his machine, and he was able to open the files without a problem. I'll be using my original DVCPROHd files on my comp later on for the compositing, along with an uncompressed HD output of the CG elements from his machine. Thanks for the help.
