DVMulti Rig Pro Help

Hi. I just got a DVMulti Rig Pro in the mail and I need some tips to balance it properly with a DVX100. I'm getting a lot of vertical movement when I try to walk with it. I've read through the instructions, but I can't seem to get it. I know it won't be as good as a Steadicam, but can anyone who has it offer some tips.

Thanks in advance.

Don't use the shoulder brace. Keep your arms away from your body. If camera is bouncing too much on the spring-loaded support pod, remove that too and go into the "Fig Rig" mode. Favor wider shots as well.
I use a heavier HVX camera with acks and it works well on my rig.

Thats correct, for walking shoots use the "Satbilizer Plus" mode. but most important, practice the "stediacm walk".

Thanks, bherr. Also, what is the best location of the DVX100 on the rig? Since the camera screw on the rig is moveable, I can bring the camera close to me, away from me, in the center, or anywhere in between. What is best for balance?

I'm testing this out right now. There will be a review up sometime. Maybe in a few weeks. I haven't messed with it too much yet, but I took it out in the field for the first time this past weekend, when I filmed some tornado destruction.

Just an initial thought from that:
I found the fact that I could mount it under the camera, and keep it folded up was great for mobility. I was on foot for four hours and trying to avoid being noticed too much, as a lot of the area I was walking was locked down.

I could just walk around holding my HVX by the handle down at my side. Then, I could spend 5-10 seconds unfolding the multirig and use it in a shoulder mount position to get a steady establishing shot, or whatever when I needed to. Fold it back up and be on my way.

I'm looking forward to putting this thing through it's paces and testing out various positions with it. But, for a run and gun, on the go, gotta be mobile, but need something that can get you a shot when you need it, and be on your way... it proved to be a good tool to have. It wasn't anything extra to carry around. Just hooked under the camera, and an extra couple of pounds.

Just thought I would share.

Danny, one thing I have always been curious of, is what is the Stedicam walk?

vegas and all other MultiRig users,

Try walking shoots with the camera pointing all the way to your left and the LCD flipped flat to the camera body.

In Stabilizer Plus position, Right arm with camera axis back, Left arm with camera axis front.

You get much smoother walking shoots for circling people or tables in wedding diners and traveling shoots following peoples profiles Etc.
