I'm looking at a second wireless and to stay out of trouble

Hello again sound experts,

I’m considering a second set of Lecto’s so I can wire two people at once. My current set is the 400 series on blk-26. What should I be aware of when purchasing a second set? [probably another 400 series]

It seems Boston has at least two blocks that one could use, should I look to purchase my second set on a different block?

I do have a 302 mixer and I might be mixing lav’s/mic's…. will I need a phase inverter cable? Right now my one and only lav is the M-150.

Anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance,
Bruce

the 302 has a phase reversal switch on channel 2. It is mainly for M/S recordings, but you could use it in a pinch. I tried it to make sure my lavs were in phase and boy, if they are not, you would know!

every 400 reciever has phase invert option inside it menu .
if your block is good , buy the same one as it alwais help when you need transmit the same signal to both recievers , it also good for trouble shooting to find problem fast .
ialwais buy these at least in pars , so have 2 on 24, 2 on 25 and 2 on 26
if you ever consider external rf disterbutor they almost alwais come in 2 block separation ( 50mh)so at least if you buy aditionalblock , buy 1 near 25 or 27
but if it only 1 and not 12 the same block would the best imo.

by the way phase correction is good if you mix 2 lavaliers when one of them out of phase ( the 2 wire microphone would be off phase to 3 wire one 150 is out of phase to 152 2 wire )
so if you with the same mics and the spread is less the 3 to 1 betwen thesourses you can get that the microphones conselating each other when 2 people stand one in front the other so you change the phase .
in other aplications is it not nessery at all .
for ms it changes the sides in asecond if you have incorrect cable or you placed the mic oposit it have to be .

Boston huh? Tough city for rf. I hear constant complaints from mixer there and people that have worked there about how cluttered the spectrum is. I will throw out the suggestion of moving up Zaxcom to get the backup recording feature. In the long run in might be a better investment for a city like Boston.

If you go with Lectro I would suggest blk29. It is one of the more open blks but often requires a special order as most stores don't carry blk29 in their inventory.

Cheers

thanks very much...its to be same block

thanks for a quick and concise wireless tutorial

Ha ha wabbit, we post same time...Funny or maybe just lucky, but no hits to report on the 400 as of yet.
I'm still waiting!

yes, I was worried that blk-26 was a bad choice but I called a Boston rental outfit and they told me they carried a lot of 26.

Upon further study I found many of blk-26 were analog stations and that one
tv-channel, still listed as active, was actually offline, and virtually dead. Channel-47 is the one to stay away from... 'digital'. Love the 'Smart Tune'...seems to keep me clean!
