Just got my spot in Full Sail

My application just arrived, and they said my spot is reserved for me there, all I got to do, is fill out the enrollment package when it comes, and all that jazz, and I'll be starting in their film program in January (need time to get the mulah). I can't wait to get there.

thanks. if you start by the end of this year its going to be cheaper. since i'm starting in 08 i think its near $70,000

Are you sure you didn't sign up for medical school by mistake?:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

HAHAHA. its freakin high, but its being used to pay for their newly purchased 90 acres to add onto the 90 acres they already have, for new state of the art equipment and such, so it is a good investment into my education.... its actually 2500 more than that if i want a mac book pro for life.... which i'll most likely do

Hopefullly the money will be well spent.

Just don't end up like JD on the Howard Stern Show. That dope went to Full Sail and did absolutely nothing with the training.

It sounds like the the school has some nice stuff.

Spend the money on equipment and build a production company, film school is a waste of time. Just my 2 cents.

School vs Self-Financing Rule #1:
Whenever someone mentions spending the money on something other than
school.. ask em what they did, how it worked out and what they are currently
doing in the field.

^^ Agreed. Too many people quick to say that it's a waste of time. Most of the people that I know that went to school are actually working lots in the industry.

Congrats from a fellow full sail alum. Make sure you work hard and get as much out of your time there as you can. There's a wealth of info and knowledge there for those who work for it.

BA 3.44gpa golden key honor society Temple University 2000-2004. Learned that most of the people who are going to film school have no idea what the industry is about or have any real talent. Working in the Industry try showing your resume' to any potential employer or producer or client with a film school degree vs work experience and see what happens. You learn more working on set in a day than you will ever learn in film school. If your going to go to collage go for a real degree, one that you can get a job with, otherwise try and work as hard as you can and put all effort into expanding your resume', reel, what ever you need to get where you want to be in the industry. As for me I work shooting for a living, no thanks to film school.

Ok...
You went to school. Any schooling, post HS is valuable, especially from a networking standpoint.

So is your argument that going to college for film would be a waste of XXX dollars,
but going to school for say, Elizabethan Poetry, at that same amount, is money well spent? I'm not sure how someone can say that schooling is a waste, then fire back
with their GPA, honorifics and University affiliation... hehe.

Film school dropout here... work with mostly film grads and people that have
gone through film trade programs... or folks with relatives in the business that
got them in...
