Moving a vegas EDL to after effects

What's the best way to edit a 'cuts only version' on vegas to then send to After Effects color grading? Could Vegas make a file that uses the time code of the cuts only edit that can be read into Affects for final color grading an FX.

I'm shooting with an HVX200 and using cineform.

Thanks.

It doesn't seem like After Effects will work with EDLs? EDL doesn't even appear in its help. Automatic Duck / FCP / Avid, AAF, and OMF do seem to be supported (but read the help). Plus, the file --> save as doesn't make a normal EDL. The export EDL under scripting makes an EDL that looks more like a typical/normal EDL.

An AAF from file --> save as does work. Both Avid legacy and Edit protocol versions do seem to work.

So the answer is basically no right? I can't edit with premiere or vegas then send it to after effects with recompressing.

I don't believe PPro or Vegas will recompress when sending material to After Effects??? (I haven't tried, but it would be silly for those programs to recompress.)

Hi there

I can tell you that saving an AAF file from vegas and importing it into after effects works great. i do it with almost every project i work on.

no recompressing needed. just save as AAF and open it in AE as a comp with all your cuts and fades in place, no effects will be taken across though just fades.

hope i have read your question right.
