I was on the news for me and my filmmaking (check it out)

Don't you think it's time for a paradigm shift?
Is Sin City not a film? What is it a video?
Are Robert Rodriguez, George Lucas, and Stephen Speilberg no longer "filmmakers?" (maybe RR & GL aren't the best examples but you get me)
All the definitions I just looked up for "filmmaker" were synonymous with "movie maker" as a primary definition and made no mention of the media on which the movie was shot.

Most writers no longer write by hand but we don't call them typists or word processors.

MY 2¢ ...

If you are telling stories visually and working with narrative - then you are a filmmaker.

I am a filmmaker that shoots hi-def digital video. I would resent being called anything else. What would you call me? A videographer? I've invested to much time, money, passion, and sacrificed too much personally to not resent it if someone suggested that I was not a filmmaker because of the tools that I use/have access to.

It's a transition period for the MEDIUM. The medium is MOVIE MAKING. The MEDIA are FILM OR DIGITAL. When people call someone like me or this kid a FILMMAKER, they are referring to the MEDIUM not the MEDIA.

For reals

Hey man, congrats :)

But yeah, if you were here in LA (not Louisiana!), then cops would be hounding you for not having a permit...

I've also got issues with people lumping everything into the catagory of "Film", whether it's shot on film or tape. Sort of like calling a Kenworth a car. Enough of that for now. Congrats on you recognition. Oh... your Mom is kinda hot too... ;)

Totally agree.
