The way to using a 35mmNikon lens without (M2, Brevis, letus)

You should think Nikon's focal vs. chip size (2/3") and you end up with a cropp from that lens perspective. A 50mm will look like 135mm. Of course you get the advantage of a 1.4/135 which was never manufactured (from what I know). Nice but short of choices when it comes to wide lenses (due to cropp).
Best,
Dan

Dan, I assume you meant 1/3" chip size. My question would be how does depth
of field compare to a Red Rock or Mini 35 lens adaptor?

The mini35 and redrock micro allow you to use relatively longer focal lengths to achieve wide field of views, while a 1/3" CCD on its own requires very short focal lengths for wide shots. Shorter focal length means deeper depth of field, longer focal lengths have shallower DoF.

The Zoerk adapter will simply let you attach a Nikon lens to the bayonet mount on your HD100. For example, a 28mm Nikon lens attached to the Zoerk will have the exact same DoF and FoV characteristics as setting your standard zoom lens to 28mm.

I made up a little graphic a year or two back that illustrates this point. The JVC, DVX, XH-A1, HVX etc all have 1/3 in lenses and their actual lens focal lengths are around 4.5mm - 90mm, 45mm tops out the DVX. Put a 4.5mm lens on a 35mm frame size and you have an extreme wide angle. Put a 45mm lens on a 35mm frame size and you have a "normal" view, on a 1/3" camera you have a super telephoto. Check out the graphic below.

Thank you Tim. That's what I expected, just wanted to make sure. I've been
reading up on the Brevis 35 and it looks interesting--no light loss, small, but
must me attached to the cameras standard lens, like Red Rock.
