Hey everyone,

This is the first of my many postings to come. Don't know much about the rules but I am hoping you guys will help me figure out this confusion of mine. I recently bought the canon xl2 miniDV camcorder and have been using it eversince (I loved it). Now I am looking to get a 35mm adapter to go with it for my first 90 mintue feature film. I have a wonderful story that needs telling but I wanted to make sure that I used the right equipment to tell it. Not to say what I have doesn't work, but I really need to get a 35mm adapter.

So after doing a lot of research, readings and talking to people, I settled on getting the M2. So here is my problem.....

Does the M2 give me the 35mm DOF? do I need an extra lens or accessaries to go with it. Difference between the canon FD lens vs. EOS lens? (what I have is the canon xl2 with the 20x zoom lens, nothing else in that catagory).
In short, If I go a head and invest the $1,000 on the M2 package, will I get the 35mm DOF that I am searching for? I know this is probably the dambest questions you've read but I really need your help.

Right now, I dont have the energy to re answer this question. What I will say though, is if you are looking into 35 adapters, check out the LetusXL, which is made specifically for the XL series cameras.

thanks Andrew. I've been looking at the LetusXL, just wasn't too convinced that it was what I need. I sent an email to the guy that sells those adapters. I guess I will be boring him with my stupid questions. But will end up buying the lens anyway so I hope he helps me out.

I think you must be asking the wrong questions, the lens itself is whats going to give you what you are looking for. The adapter is just going to get the lens on your camera. You have to research what each lens will bring to the table and why different lenses do what they do. Each adapter will handle each lens differently so you would have to look for footage done with the M2 and see what shots you are trying to get and ask that person what lens they used. I found the Brevis gives a wider DOF with certain lenses than the M2 does using the same lens but with others the Brevis will give a narrower DOF thats only inches and pretty much impossible to work with when the subject is moving.
