cool little "title"
Well, we left at 7:30am from San Jose and began our long trek to La-La land. Pacheco Pass out by Gilroy was a looooooooooooong winding road in the middle of nowhere. We thought we'd never see I-5 and then there it was in the distance. Hooray, we're on our way.
What did we see? Farms, farms, and more farms. We saw so many freakin' farms it was unreal. Trees to the right, trees to the left, and yes, we even saw a small plane, crop duster, zoom down next to the road and spray the crops. California is farmland.
We stopped in a small area and ate at Denny's. You have to love/hate this eatery. The food sucks but oh you can so depend on the quality no matter where you go. We had a second breakfast and then headed out once again.
We saw signs on the road stating that I-5 near Grapevine was closed due to snow? What do you mean snow?? This isn't New York. This isn't far north. We're going SOUTH for God's sake. We're suppose to be heading toward sunny, warm California, not snow. We stopped outside of Bakersville and called AAA. By that time they had opened the road and no longer was it closed. Fast workers.
As we enter the National Forest on either side of the road, let's just say it's the road from HELL. We thought we had a freakin' flat tire. It was bumpy, potholes, definitely the people don't pay their taxes. We had to pull off at a gas station to check the air pressure on our tires to make sure it wasn't us. Stupid road.
Then we saw that sign: ENTERING LOS ANGELES
I could just spit. First impression, I saw a MALL! Okay, fellas, I know you guys think I'm just a tomboy, but hey, I love malls! And it was the Galleria. Woo hoo. We hit Santa Monica expressway and doubled back to find our Comfort Inn Hotel. I immediately started to speak with the staff in Spanish, old habits are hard to break. Let me say this about this Comfort Inn - gah.
Through Craigslist we got in contact with a location scout who is putting his fursnished apartment up for short term lease. We have an appointment tomorrow. Hopefully it will work out and will stay there until we find a good apartment in town.
This city is bigger than Santa Cruz, thank God. I think I'm going to like it here.
