Jerky car-parking in my hood

So I get some note on my car yesterday that says I parked way too close to some dude's car and now he says that I damaged his bumper on his new Mercedes CL-500, he claims to have pictures.. Do I need to worry about this or give the heads up to my insurance company? I was thinking that he was calling my bluff because it's going to cost him a deductable to get it fixed as well as points against his records..

I swear, drivers in LA are all loons..

Call his bluff and ask to see the pictures. That way you will be able to determine the damage. It sounds, however, like you may have parked close to him, but he hit your car trying to get out (correct me if I'm wrong). The pictures would need to detail the space between your car and his, as well as any damage that might have occurred on his car. Check with LA ordinances, but I think here in Seattle you have to park 6 inches from another car. I wouldn't talk to the insurance company just yet because you don't know what you're dealing with entirely. Get the pictures and get his side of the story, then check the local laws to see if there's anything about distance between parallel parked cars. Unless you hit his car trying to park, he's going to have a hard time recovering damages.

Keep in mind however that I'm not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV.

Thanks for advice.. I don't want to talk to this guy, I already left a message with him, he called me back and left a nasty message with me so I don't want to deal with him or see his phony pictures..

Funny thing is, I parked my car on that curb all day which means he parked his car too close to mine, damaged his bumper, then took pictures of his car butt up against mine. I don't think his pics will hold up at all..

Well without a police report he is pretty much dead in the water I believe. So I would not give it a second thought, especially if you did not hit him. Is there any damage to your car? If not he is pure bullshit. If there is and you did not hit him, get the pictures and advise him you are suing for damage to your car.

I would advise reporting this to the police especially if there were damage done. Ignoring it can give him ground to sue you, believe it or not. I have an aunt who got sideswiped by another car while she was driving. The impact was slight so she decided not to pursue it and kept driving. The other person actually called the police and reported my aunt for a hit and run and she got pulled over by 4 police cars a few hours later. It's only when it was obvious that she was the victim did they let her go. But there are some nasty people out there that'll do whatever they can to make trouble for you so you should cover your bases.

Thing is there was no damage done to my car at all - He is claiming that the tiny skrews holding my license plate to the front of my bumper, put two small indentations into his bumper, like who doesn't have small nicks on their bumper anyway... it's a bumper for gods sake... I think what probably happened was that this guy dropped his life savings on his brand new Benz which he valued more than his own life, he saw a guy parked too close to his car and decided to pinpoint a few minor scratches on me.. I don't think its worth reporting to anyway but if I get a call from my insurance claiming that I damaged his car, then the real fight will begin

How petty can people be..

tommy whats wrong with that? two wrongs cancel each other out. lol

That being said, today i was so stressed out with my current film that i spit on a car twice (coming and going) because it was parked way over the line. Might not be the best way to work with stress, but it made me feel better.
