I'm moving back to good ole LA next month. Got to check NoHo out. I love Studio City. Time to party with Charli, Timur, DC, Tommy.

Ahh... that'll be me with the Guinness... :)

I used to live in Studio City about 6 years ago. It's a nicer neighborhood that NoHo, but it's much more expensive. I pay 715 / month for a bachelor pad (no kitchen), which isn't too bad. I was looking at a place in Studio City recently and they wanted 1100 for a 1 bedroom...

I live in Santa Clarita, just North of LA. Very nice area.

ya, but what do you pay for rent personally?

1100 for a 1 bedroom aint too shabby. I pay 1000 a month for a 1 bedroom Apt. Kaka bay area.

What software? After Effects? Something else? I'm looking to start freelancing and the only thing I have right now is web programming. I'm trying to learn other stuff so I can get away from the programming and into something I might actually enjoy doing.

when you say feeding your monkkey, do you mean feeding me and aram hamburgers and pretzels on set?

Though luckily i got 350$ for Marks car at the airport.... :)

I'm paying $1300 for my son's rent, 1 bedroom. If that's the cost in Santa Monica, okay, then, I can afford that. If you are talking $2k for a 1 bedroom in Santa Monica, okay then, I'm out.

Still unsure.

The question becomes... do you want to live on the beach or do you not care about being that close? There are place you can find for lower than 1300. Santa Monica probably won't be one of them, unless you really luck out. A 1 bedroom on the beach usually goes for about 2k+.

I live right next to the Santa Monica airport. 2 bed 2 bath Central AC - 1725 a month.

You just have to search that's all. Culver City is a great place, I like looking at all the tall buildings near the medical center, imagining all sorts of chaos happening.

Palms area isn't too bad as far as rent goes, either.

How far is Manhattan beach from LA? Or Hermosa?
Manhattan Beach is the northern-most city of the South Bay beach cities. Hermosa Beach is the next city south. It takes me about 45-55 minutes to drive from there to Burbank (about 20 miles) in traffic. Going home after rush hour can be as little as 30-35 minutes. About 25-35 minutes to Westwood/Beverly Hills/West Hollywood during non-rush hour. Westchester is 4 miles closer to town, but really has little to offer as far as "lifestyle" amenities--but then, Marina Del Rey does, and it's only the next city north. I paid about $1800/month for a two-bedroom apartment in Westchester. Just four miles can make a difference . . . I used to make it from Westchester to Burbank in like 35 minutes, IN TRAFFIC (driving like a maniac).

Not quite near the beach, but a great area, and a good value, are the apartment districts of the south end of Beverly Hills (near and around Century City, and along Olympic Blvd.). Older buildings south of Santa Monica Blvd. seem to be reasonable, and you're close to Westwood and Beverly Hills with great amenities. Probably cheaper than beach cities for what you get. Mid-Wilshire district is also decent, and close to Hollywood restaurants, clubs, etc. But it's fairly far inland, and you won't enjoy that cool ocean breeze in the summer (L.A. gets HOT in the summer). But stay away from living in the Hollywood area--too much crime.

I forgot to mention El Segundo. Nestled between Manhattan Beach and Westchester, and home to LAX, this is a nice, safe, quiet town, and it's right on the beach. Should be cheaper than Manhattan, and it's a bit closer to town, too. In view of what you seem to be looking for, I would strongly consider El Segundo.

Definitely around Olympic Blvd. You'll be 20 minutes from the beach and 3rd Street Promenade. And you won't be paying the highest dollar for decent homes. more so around Olympic and Bundy.

im gonna come and shoot porno in the valley to pay for UCLA.

oy. maybe LA is a bad idea for a ny boy........

Wow, $715 is amazing. I was paying $950 for a studio in Hollywood. That went up to $1050. I definitely want to check NoHo, Studio City, and even Culver City.
