Hey,
on my search for a good indoor dialogue microfone, I read about the 4043a in the "Read this first" sticky.
Now the only thing keeping me from getting an Octava is the somehow split opinion on weather it is suitable for booming or not.
Anyways, I can´t find the 4043a on the AT site or in a store, so I was wondering if there was a follow up model?
Actually, I´m open for everything going for around 600$, as long if the improvement over the Octave is noticable.
Im going to shoot in an empty loft witch A LOT of echoes all around, so any suggestions are greatly apreciated...

PS if there should be sth like THE hypercardiodic mic to have, I would be willing to spent even more, considering it to be a lifetime investment...

used akg 480 +63
audix cxi
mbho 648+500
mbho 603+500
they all better then OKTAVA
Good preamp is more critical then jump higher with mic if you dont have one

Just talked to mbho, i would get the 603 with the 500 capsule for around 440 Euros excl tax...
Sounds good to our budget keeper, any other thoughts?
if not I think I´ll buy (well, they´d send it to us for testing purposes first...)

there is no split on using the oktava on the boom. its well agreed to be a great low cost boom mic option.

if you want to make an investment, just buy a schoeps or akg ULS (which Oleg says is as good).

And as for the loft, bring a lot of deadening materials - blankets (black outs work great), carpets etc etc to try kill echo early.

I believe the sticky meant to reference the AT4053a which is a small diaphram hyper.
