Hmm. Last I heard, CSUN's film program focused more on the technical side of filmmaking and not so much the story telling--audio techs, grips, editing, lighting, camera operators, etc. I'd say avoid film school, except to audit a course or two. I didn't go to film school, but it seems to me you'd learn more about filmmaking by making your own movies, reading on your own, and listening to the DVD director commentaries of your favorite films.

can u make the commute to CSUF

the tv/film program is better with better faculty

i suggest you study art + film wherever, you'll have all the creative tools necessary to make your own projects

I go to CSULB. The film program here is impacted, meaning that you'll need to take 56 units and have at LEAST (it's competitive) a 3.0 GPA. The program itself (which I'm still working on getting into) seems cool, I've taken a few courses. The downside is you can't really get some of the technical stuff there and major in it... for example you can't have a focus on editing, which saddens me greatly. Anyway, I don't know too much since I'm not there yet, but it really kinda depends what you're looking to make your area of focus, and also if you don't mind waiting several semesters of doing shitty GE's (venting a bit) till you reach 56 units of credit. Not sure if Northridge is impacted as well, though...

Let me know if you need any more info
