My FCP footage looks like sh*& !!! HELP!!!

" This is your expectation of what you think you should be seeing, or something."

What are you even talking about? I'm not bagging on FCP, I love the program. All I'm saying is, as far as I know, I've set everything correctly and shot everything correctly and all I want is to edit correctly, but something is missing.
Could someone tell me their exact settings for editing 24p, with as much detail as possible.
I asked but no one answered about using a different camera to capture. Could this affect anything? Thanks for all the help, guys.

Logan Logan Logan...

You need to settle down.

Hook your camera up to the TV... the CAMERA!!! Pause on a frame. Play the tape. Is that what you see?

Heck hook the deck up - won't make a difference.

Answer that and I'll answer your other questions.

If you shot 24p, the just choosing the DV/NTSC Easy Setup should have you good to go. That's it. If your footage is anamorphic, then use the anamorphic DV/NTSC easy setup. If you shot 24PA, then use the DV/NTSC Setting using the Advanced Pulldown removal.

Shane, sorry if I was short w/you. I've just been frustrated, ya know. Anywho, I owe you (and everyone else) a HUGE thanks! I'm not sure how the hell my settings got screwed, but once I switched to the DV/NTSC Easy setup, the footage looked great, just like it should look. Thanks to all and sorry if I upset anyone, I didn't mean to.
Guess I'm off to re-edit about 10hrs. of footage : P

Ah -- very good!!

Well - at least you were correct in saying your footage was looking like crap!!

We just couldn't tell. Nobody's pissed off... we were ALL frustrated.

Good luck,

Tough for us to all SEE what is going on in here. So, like Capt says, it might have looked like crap, and we had no way of telling. SO you did have some setting wrong.

Glad you got it right.

THIS JUST IN...I think I know what was the REAL problem. I noticed that only the stuff I'd shot w/my 35 adapter (whic does flip the image) was interlacy and flickering so I captured footage from those tapes. They play back fine when they are dragged onto the timeline; once I change the rotation to 180 in motion control, it renders and looks like, well, you know. Is there any other way to flip the image? Thanks again, Logan

You could try the FLOP filter... not sure if that would do anything different... not even sure you can flop vertically or not. Take a look.
