Silenced Blank-Firing Gun?

I'm not sure I can pull off a convincing sequence of shots using a plastic gun and a homemade silencer, so I'm wondering if there's a silenced blank gun available. I found an import for the low, low price of 220 pounds -- is there anything cheaper, or is that cheap?

you can put the muzzle flashes sounds and smoke in in post
the light from the flash helps if its a practical effect but you can sort of fake it.

a silencer is also known as a supressor. it generaly supresses the muzzle flash as well as muffeling the sound so just add your sound and a little bit of smoke in post and you're golden

I've looked around on this sub-forum and there's a lot of great content. I'm wondering if there is a library of free smoke effects and sounds? We have a cap gun, but it needs a decent paint job to pass for realistic. It does kick back though, which I guess is nice.

I really want one of the Berettas from that site. May have to save up for one.

demolition films is the best place to start for free assets..video copilot has fantastic stuff for a great price. all the muzzle flashes and most of the smoke in my film was from those two sources.

So can anyone explain to me how do i put the sound, fire, smoke with my airsoft gun in post?

what you really have to realize is that real guns don't have consistant muzzle flashes, not like they do in all the movies your used to seeing at least. It happens rarely but never as consistent to what youll see in movies and what people are trying for in their own indie projects. Im not standing up saying i think its way out there that people are putting them in their movies cause I think they look really fu**ing cool myself, but the film crew i was a part of a few months ago went out to the police shooting rage and fired off some razy guns and after shooting off 4 different weapons and a number of rounds each i didnt count one flare.

If anyone was to try and capture a realistic gun reaction to being fired it would be a fast and powerfull bust of smoke from the barrel. which you can easily make a plate for using some black fabric some cheep lights and the "screen" blending mode is most compositing programs.
and like it said int eh previous post, if its a silancer chances are they're woudlnt be a flash at all and it would just be the violent gun movment and the sound effect. Even in video games you dont see the silancer producing much of a flash, and video games are far out.

Haha. You're wasting your time there. That's like telling people there shouldn't be a sound when a spaceship passes by in space through a frame. We're all used to it so now we expect it. Perception is reality.

Buy your airsoft direct from www.redwolfairsoft.com KSC do the best ones with blowback, they start from less than $100. as others have said, there is no flash from a silencer and the airsofts are great as they are completely safe. I used a Glock 17 with a silencer on POSIDON (tv movie) recently for the scene on the bridge where the crew get shot and it worked realy well. By the way, just in case you are not aware, you cannot silence a revolver.
