Heat put me off filmmaking

hey sorry this is random but i just finished watching the movie heat with al pacino, deniro etc. i thought it was pretty good.
afterwards i heard that some people actually tried a robbery based on the one in heat and that it is used as a training video for burglars etc.
this just got me to thinking that all movies like this (which i really enjoy, eg scarface) are just made by the producers simply to make money and not care about the effects it has. I saw on imdb people saying that it is a perfect film etc but i don't understand why exactly that is. It sort of makes you feel that everyone is violent and that you have to carry a gun around with you becuause basically everone in the movie did! What was the incentive for the producers to make this? im asking seriously cuz i want to know. hopefully someone can help me with this cuz its put me off filmmaking heaps now for some reason and i dont know why? why did deniro and stuff have to take this route couldnt they just get a job or something?
I would HATE to be this guy's kid....

You said that the movie was made by the producers simply to make money, then you ask: "What was the incentive for the producers to make this?" Heat was an AWESOME movie! If you feel the need to carry around a gun, move to Texas. If you don't want to make films because you watched HEAT, good riddance because your movies would probably be boring anyways.

I think there are more potent root causes for violence that should be addressed, IMO, before we start burning D&D books and re-coding Doom so it's full of fluffy bunnies and rainbows.

I don't think anyone suggested book burning, and definitely not censorship... either one of which is a vile intereference in human liberty and right to express etc. Personaly, all I'm saying is to be aware of the power of film/video and to be aware of how it affects your audience. If you have a good reason to show a charachter being decapitated, and you are convinced you can defend your inclusion of such a shot, if it makes a point you are prepared to stand up for, then go ahead and show it. Just don't do it because it titilates, or you're running out of ideas.

Example... first five minutes of Saving Private Ryan (the reality of war) versus any five minutes of Rambo (where do I start?)

we should look at the socioeconomic problems of the largely minority lower class areas that are the breeding grounds for much of this violence

If art has the power to uplift, then it also has the power to depress and enrage. You can't have it only one way.
