Hi guys,
After going through a lot of pain and searching the net in every possible corner of it I managed to have Sony Vegas 7.0d to reckognize every possibe codec around. How...? Here I am explaining what I did:
First you don't need any codec packs (K-Lite, Ace Megacodecs {very bad}. because they are very dangerous for your computer. I did a fresh install of windows to get rid off my codec packs. First I installed my Sony Applications (Vegas, Sound Forge, DVD-Architect). The only codec(s) you need to make Sony work is the little package ofFFDShow MPEG-4.
and AC3 Filter. The other thing I had to do was copy all the plugins from SoundForge FileIO Plug-Ins and copied them to Sony Vegas FileIO Plug-Ins. DO NOT OVERRIDE ANYTHING THAT IS THE SAME. KEEP HITTING NO AND IT ONLY COPIES 2 OR 3 FOLDERS, YOU SHOULD BE DONE.
You are still going to have problem opening a file XVID that you have just converted in Vegas but there is a solution for this too. Look in the net and download GSPOT to analyse the file and a small application called AVIC to change FourCC headers. After you import the XVID file to AVIC you just change both values to DIVX. You will see that now you will be able to see both video and audio on the Vegas timeline. You have to do the SAME for every XVID video that you have if you want VEGAS to import both Audio and Video...
Hope I have been a help for all of you trying to find a solution.
Cheers!!!!
