Looking for a good and cheap VTR... any suggestions

I would be willing to buy one off of someone if they are looking to get rid of one, or if you have any suggestions for what I can use for one or where I could buy one please let me know.

miniDV vtrs are overpriced, go buy a $200 used camera off ebay. And then use that one just for a vtr.

Good AND cheap mini DV VTR?? *insert evil laughter*

edit// sorry I was in a bit of a mood last night. If you just do the occasional capture a cheap camera makes a great VTR. The playback of a 300$ camcorder through firewire is identical to that of a 5k VTR. If you're not using it pretty hard that's the way to go.

Truthrocket,

A mini-dv camcorder is ok if you're planning on capturing with 1394 machine control. If you want something a bit more professional, the JVC BR-DV3000 and the 6000 can be controlled via RS-422. We are a JVC dealer and I can get you
pricing on the 3000 if you like. Panasonic has the AG-DV2500 and it has identical features as the 3000 and we are a flagship dealer for Panasonic. PM me if you're interested in numbers.
