Working between After Effects and Vegas? (what format to save to)

Hi guys,

I'd like to do alot of cc and effects in AE and cut in Vegas but don't know what file to save the AE clips to. I'm looking for a format that doesn't lose much quality (as close to lossless as possible) but without the big file sizes of something like lossless avi.

I was taking a look at saving to the motion jpeg .mov files but I have no idea if that's what I should be using.

Thanks!

Will, I do some AE and Vegas. Mike Jones over on DMNForums recommended the Quicktime Animation Codec for AE -> Vegas and I have found it to work very well... reasonable file sizes and afaik it is lossless.

Thanks, Jerry I'll try this too!

Interesting... I have always captured in vegas then exported uncompressed, Then uncompressed from after effects back to vegas...

Working with Quicktime using the animation codec is essentially that. There is compression, but losseless. Like winzip.

The main problem I run into (I have the same workflow as Video maker) is Vegas and interlacing. As long as Vegas doesn't interperet your Quitcktime file incorrectly, you are golden.

Which one is Quicktime Animation? I'm in AE 6.5 and I see that I can export a movie as H.264, photo jpeg and things like that. Forgive my ignorance. I'm having the way too big file syndrome as well.
