24p in FCP what am I missing?

This has to be simple setting I'm missing somewhere. Here is my work flow:

HVX shooting 720/24p
Captured into DVrack as Type-2 AVI (DVrack has a QT bug)
Used DVrack Batch Converter to change the AVI into a QT file
Moved QT file to Mac
Used "Easy Setup DVCPRO HD 720/24p"
Imported video clip
There is no render bar so I am assuming everything looks good
Play video and it plays to fast

So the question is what am I missing?

Yeah, you can capture the footage in FCP itself and set up the settings for how to load everything. If 24fps is the way you shot it, that is how it should load and play in real time in FCP. If it's going fast, it's just bringing the frames together more and it's not in real-time anymore, and that probably happens because the capturing believed that it is capturing at a video frame-rate. FCP also has settings for capturing HD footage.

I use all the extra features of DVrack which is why I'm captureing with it. The guys at Serious Magic say the conversion from AVI to QT is just a file conversion and doesn't touch the footage itself. The file stays DVCPRO HD and the only thing that changes is the wrapper.

Kinda doubt that- AVI to QuickTime is major transcoding and recompression. I'd dump DV Rack from the workflow if you're using FCP. These problems will go right away.
