Survivor - poor cameraman!

Hi everyone,

I am a fan of Survivor and am always wondering what camcorder they use for the filming out on the various islands.

Also I hope they pay those folks well, and let them stay in a nice tent!!!

Anyone know someone who does this? It would interesting to get their opinion on things!

At least they get to stay in one place. It's the poor guys on the Amazing Race I feel for!

My cousin shoots for survivor. I never asked about that but I know he just flew to, I think, the Fiji islands to shoot next season. I'll ask him about that stuff when he comes in town next week.

I don't think they use camcorders for Survivor. Ever notice you never see any camera men/crew during stuff like the challenges?! Its almost like they edit them out. I thought sure you would see them when they take an aerial shot. Someone here on DVXuser last year said the tribal councils are shot with over 15 cameras in various angles. They are probably using some sort of HD camera like the Sony F900 or Panasonic Varicam with long lenses so they can hide in some bushes and not be in the shot should they go to a wide shot or an aerial. This is just speculation, I don't know what they do.

I thought this thread was going to be about a camera operator in an accident. Glad no one was injured in the live performance of Eye of the Tiger. :)
