Can you SCORE your film in FCP?

i have a keyboard and an external mixer and i want to watch my video footage as i play sounds/music on the keyboard while its plugged directly into my Mac, however when anything is plugged in the INPUT on the back of the cpu i can see the audio meters already moving a little less than halfway as if there's a signal already coming in...is there a way to avoid this? am i going about scoring my sequence/film the wrong way?

It's picking up sound, you have your gains on your equipment too high. Are you simply plugging your keyboard into the sound input? Not a good idea, it's not the same level. Get an auido D/A device that uses USB or Firewire to feed musical instuments into a computer.

Yep, GarageBand, Logic, you already have SoundTrack Pro, which was made specifically for doing video and film sound work. Ust STP, it's the most overlooked, misunderstood app in the Stuido bundle.

cool, that makes sense to get something that goes out from the kleyboard/mixer and has a usb or firewire into the cpu. any idea on exactly what i should go buy that fits that descritpion? i should be able to find something in the music store though.

i'll have to take a look at that soon as i get home from work. i'll have to take a SERIOUS look at soundtrack pro. i jus hadnt had enough time to figure it out. i think the reason i keep trying to work around it is because whenever i need it i'm in a rush or have a deadline. i'm just going to have to take a crack at it this time.

thanks guys.
