Editting .m2t 24F files in FCP 5.1

I shot on a XlH1 and stored my footage on a Firestore device. I now have .m2t files, mpeg streamclip, and FCP 5.1. Does anyone know what I need to convert to, what extra software/codecs I need, etc? I am totally lost and I've sat on my footage for a month now.
 
Well, neither is a format you want to edit in. Can you set the Firestore to record QuickTime? So you're shooting HDV, you want either a QuickTime HDV or QuickTime AIC format. I highly recommend editing with AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec) rather than native HDV editing.

You have your FS-4 set to record in what format?
 
Ben, I guess I'll try to set the firestore to Quicktime next time. I'm not sure what it was on the first time. I'll also see about 5.1.2. If anyone has any more advice, please feel free to give it.
