Panasonic DVC 180 tape records for only 2 hours?

I wasn't sure of where else to post this on DVXU... If noone knows I'll jump over to 2pop.

Last night I shot the U-M Mens basketball game for the in house crew, and I gave the guys in the studio a panasonic DVC 180 tape to record the feed from my cam. Problem is, it only recorded about 2 hours. I eject the tape and there nothing left on the spool. Am I missing something? Does there DVCAM deck spin the tape faster or something? Why didn't I get 3 hours of recording time?

thanks

Whey your rewind the tape, does it play back correctly? Was there some fluke where your new tape was not rewound all the way and there was blank time at the beginning? Let us know if you figure it out!

yes, DVCAM spins the tape faster than regular DV...2hours sounds about right for a 3hr DV tape. I'm sure that you could put the deck in DV mode so that you'd get 3hrs next time.
