What is the deal with 30P ?

Maybe, but that's not the only reason to convert to 24 fps.

24 fps is the standard for narrative film, and I doubt it will change any time soon. People just like the look.

Agreed. Sorry to be the devil's advocate here, but I don't think 30p is bad for narrative however.

I understand the legacy of 24p, but I think just a little more temporal sampling isn't such a bad thing.

I like progressive over interlaced and 30p is better for action, so yeh i use 30p and I'm not going to deny it any longer. Consider me outed. Ah so much better shoulda done it years ago.

I have an insane question: Say I had 60p footage and I wanted to take that 60p and turn it into 24p... but not slow-mo. Is that even possible??

Yes, in the same way that 60i can be blended and mushed together into 24p. It wouldn't be ideal, but it can certainly be done.

Yes, but the cadence may not look right. I did this with some 60i to 60p conversions and it looked strange. I think some extra mathematical finesse is needed (like using Nattress Map Frames) in order to do a better job of it.

Man, I have to try this. I've been pondering on how to do something and I think this is exactly what I have to do.

How would I do this with Final Cut Pro?
