best film ever?

To put it another way: make a list of the worse movies of all time (that received a major national release) and I bet you will find most of them in the 80's;

Well, taking an honest stab at it . . .

Lost in Space
Batman & Robin
Highlander 2
From Justin to Kelly
The Ninth Gate
Turbulence
Mannequin 2
The Mod Squad
McHale's Navy

Just off the top of my head. Obviously, there are hundreds of others.

Anyway, Stranger Than Paradise is a good call - Screamin Jay Hawkins is indeed the best!

Was Screamin' Jay in Stranger Than Paradise as well as Mystery Train?

As far as 80's movies go, I'd have to say Raising Arizona. It still cracks me up after about thirty viewings. Maybe not "the best" film, but it's at the top of my list.

There are a lot of bad movies from every decade. Life is too short to drink bad wine, blended scotch and dwell on bad movies. Out of over 850 movies I own, 30 are downright bad...really bad... But two of those, Robot Monster and Plan 9 From Outer Space have become classics of bad movie making.

I concur

And damn it, in my collection I have

Red Dawn, Navy Seals and The New Kids
Hahaha...I just watched Red Dawn the other night. I love The Wind and the Lion directed by John Milius. I can't believe he also did Red Dawn...and I can't believe how bad it is but it was like a train wreck and I couldn't seem to turn away.

A few that I am particularly embarrassed about in my collection are: Solaris, Going Overboard, Coffee and Cigarettes, Lost in Space and Lair of the White Worm...:embarasse

Oh man

Lost In Space ?

Now that is bad !
Well, it was a freebee that I got when I bought a new DVD player a few years ago. It doesn't negate the shame, just explains it...:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Ed Wood...Classic.... so bad that its good!
Kind of like snakes on a plane :s

I give you the best and wrost film of the 80's, Roadhouse

that's a good movie, but let me remind everyone that the topic has been changed to best film of the 80's.
Sorry, I didn't notice yet. However, considering Europa was began to be written since the 80s, it should be fine.
