Shooting Apollo 11 On The Moon

I actually heard that "chicken" wasn't the taboo word here, it was Kentucky. The state of Kentucky was trying to get people to pay to use the word in a business or product name, so that's why they changed to KFC.

Yeah, sorry I was making a joke based on the urban legend from snopes: http://www.snopes.com/lost/kfc.htm

You are indeed correct.

It's ALL urban legend. It was just a marketing decision.

But I read in the book "Fast Food Nation" that KFC is the larger buyer of chicken (just above McDonalds) in the United States! If that is the case, where are all those chickens going???

Where indeed????

I think I've seen commercials where they refer to their chicken as Kitchen Fresh Chicken...being 'fried' is becoming politically incorrect in some circles. But yes, it's now just KFC.

KFC is going back to Kentucky Fried Chicken. It doesn't sound like they are dumping KFC, but they are opening new stores under the original name and remodeling some existing stores. They haven't said which ones. They are trying to go back to their southern roots

From a space camera, to landing on the moon, to abduction, to KFC, to space exploration, and.... This thread has gone everywhere.

Anyway, my point was not to start an argument about human/vs non-human space flight - though I actually find robotic exploration MUCH MORE uplifting because I never would have seen the surface of Titan, or any of the thousands of ground breaking images the Hubble put out, or witnessed the proving of frame-dragging. These things to me are FAR MORE exciting than some schmoe hitting a golf ball around the moon. And all robotic missions.

But, what I wanted to say was that EVEN THOUGH I find that stuff more exciting, I UNDERSTAND the power putting people on the moon can have and the Apollo stuff gets EVEN ME excited.

Which is why I've always been a fan of both.

Well this is going to date me, but I remember watching that on our small black and white TV in our apartment living room. Earliest TV moment I can actually remember.

I'm fairly certain they changed it to KFC because they didn't want "fried" in their name, because most people associate that with fat.

I'm telling you, this just confirms it was fake. Sure let's deteriorate the image so people would think it's coming from 240,000 miles away

Okay, finally this multi-hijacked thread is starting to dovetail.

KFC. Fried. Fat.

Moon. Cheese. Fat.

It's all about the fat.

Isn't it a little creepy that they had to change their name to KFC because what they sell cannot really be classified as chicken?

Funny idea.

But seriously, it was purely to stop the use of "Fried" in the title, even though we all know that it's fried, right? One of those psychological marketing tricks.

At least that's what I heard and it makes sense having worked with tons of marketing folks.

I can't believe I used to eat there long ago. <Wretch> <Shudder> Whew, that was a close one!

Which goes back to what I was saying: we're too fat to put us in space. Not cost effective. Robots!!!
